Trail Conditions

3/16/23 Update-Partial closures

March 16, 2023

3/16/2023 update Trails are closed from Uniondale south to Simpson. The A trail is bare and closed in this section, stay off it! Gates will be closed if not already. The B side is thin with many bare spots and will be melting away. As we have been saying all along, stay in the elevations from the Speakeasy/Arlo’s area to Lakewood and Scott Center. We don’t have any reports on the J and G trails but suspect they’ll be thinning out today if not already. The A trail from Uniondale to Stephens point is still open at this time but if it starts to go bare then the gates will be getting closed. With todays forecast don’t be surprised that the snow you ride on this morning is gone by the afternoon, just ask some of the folks that launched out of Forest City yesterday. If anyone has any information…

3/14/23 Trails are open

March 15, 2023

We received enough snow to open more trails. Although Forest City did receive a decent amount of snow the best riding will be found from the Speakeasy/Arlo’s area up to Lakewood and over to Pleasant Mount. Late season riding conditions are in effect. There is water and unfrozen ground under this fresh snow. Ride with caution as you may encounter closed gates. The owner of the golf course is keeping the gates closed due to the unfrozen ground. Do not go across the golf course on the B trail. Go up and along the shoulder of the road and jump back on the trail. We don’t think this snow will last, given the forecast this is a “here today, gone tomorrow” snow typical of this time of year. Warm air and rain returns Thursday into Friday so this opening will be short lived so get out if you can. It’s…

12/16/2022

Trails are Open (Snowmobile only!)

The region received a good amount of snow, especially in the elevations. The higher you go the more snow there is, typical elevation storm.

We will have a limited opening. Trails are open but please exercise caution as early season riding conditions are in effect. You may encounter fallen trees and limbs, water holes, closed gates and fences, and other hazards. Most gates are open but you may find a few that aren’t open yet. If you stick to the main trails then you should be ok but it is likely there are trees and branches down from the high winds from the storm. It will take our volunteers a day or two to get around to everything as we need to dig out and have real jobs too.

Please be advised of the following trail closures:

The D trail remains closed from the Red Schoolhouse to the northern C-D intersection in Pleasant Mount.

There is a closure on the C trail near Andrews Trucking. A bridge inspection deemed it unsafe and required a last minute replacement. The bridge crew made every effort to get this done before the storm. It is anticipated that they will finish tomorrow or Sunday, we will post an update as soon as it is reopened.

The X trail is closed from the A trail to the Speakeasy due to the concrete blocks placed at Creek Rd. by Herrick Twp. blocking the X trail entrance/ exit. We are working to resolve this matter but this will serve notice that this section of trail is closed and the clubs insurance and the provisions of the PA Recreational Use of Land and Water Act will not apply to this section of trail as this is a hazardous condition that was willfully created for snowmobilers. We will post updates if and when the hazard is removed or properly delineated.

Members may still access the Speakeasy and Arlo’s from the B side and the A side at the western side of Huck’s Pass.

Exercise caution on cross country trails as there was a lot of standing water. It may take some time for things to slush up and freeze solid. Forecasted temperatures are favorable.

Pay attention to the new trail alignments in the Waymart area along the C trail and the Y trail to the gas station. Please follow the new signage.

Only one club snowcam is operational at this time at the Forest City location.

The forest city parking lots may not get plowed for a few days. Check with the Speakeasy and Arlo’s to see when they may be plowed out. Same goes for any parking area at a local business.

Trail passes are available online or at the point of sale locations listed on our website.

We will post updates in this thread and on our website as time allows.

If you do get out and see something that we need to address then please message us. Also we do have some that ask a ton of questions, most answers can be found on our website with minimal effort. We ask for everyone’s patience and understanding as it is a handful of volunteers that makes this all happen. Just be happy that we have snow on opening day and enjoy what life has to offer on a snowmobile.
